Badges top right show simulation state.
Foil carries
Green badge — the pump cycle is settled and the setup sustains weight over the simulated period.
- Animation in panel A runs
- Pump metrics (power, distance/cycle) are valid
Carries but stall in cycle
Yellow badge — still flying but angle of attack touches the stall limit at times.
What to do:
- Reduce frequency or leg amplitude
- Adjust pitch or use Find best operating point
- Panels B/C: red α point near or above stall
Does not carry / technique not sustaining
Red badge — under the current pump parameters (frequency, stroke, pitch) the simulation does not hold height.
This judges technique, not necessarily the setup. Many rigs sustain at a different operating point (Find best operating point); the app also tries that automatically after a setup change.
Possible causes:
- Pump parameters do not match the wing (too little stroke, wrong frequency)
- Setup too small for the weight
- Take-off well above pump speed
The message names the end reason of the simulation (e.g. touchdown).
Trim not solvable
Red badge — moment balance cannot be solved. The app sets the mast track once to the balance offset when track travel allows.
Typical triggers:
- Extreme shim combination
- Foot position / mast track outside a sensible range
- Rear wing too small for the load distribution
What to do: step shims, stance or mast track back toward defaults.
